trade show floor is a crowded, noisy place, and you typically have only a few seconds to catch a visitor’s eye before they walk past. Having designed and built exhibition stands across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, we’ve seen what makes people stop, and what makes them keep walking. Here are five design principles we lean on for every stand we build.

1. Design for the 3-Second Glance
Your brand name, logo, and core message should be readable from across the aisle, not just up close. Bold, illuminated signage with strong contrast does more work than a wall of small text ever will.
2. Open Layouts Invite People In
Tall walls and closed corners make a stand feel like a barrier. An open, welcoming layout with clear sightlines into the stand encourages visitors to step in rather than just glance and move on.
3. Lighting Does More Than You Think
Good lighting draws the eye and makes finishes look premium, even on a modest budget. Backlit logos, warm accent lighting around product displays, and well-lit counters all add polish that photographs well too.
4. Give Visitors a Reason to Pause
A counter for conversation, a product on display, or even simple seating gives people a reason to stop rather than just walk the perimeter. Standing space alone rarely holds attention for long.
5. Build for Reuse
Modular stands that can be reconfigured for different hall sizes save cost across multiple events. It’s worth designing with your next three exhibitions in mind, not just the one in front of you.
